Hot Water Heater Rentals
Ontario homeowners have for decades been duped into overpriced water heater rental contracts. A lot of people don’t even realise there is a monthly rental fee included in their utility bill that they don’t need. Ontario brought in laws to prevent door to door salepeople scamming homeowners for new long term/overpriced contracts but it appears there are still loopholes according to this CBC news article where a young homeowner bought a new home and in their words….
“She’s stuck with a 14-year rental contract with Enercare, paying $56.43 per month for the water heater. Now she can’t get out of it unless she buys the equipment outright at $3,600….”
